I’m Nhi Do, a Vietnamese classical pianist, vocalist, songwriter, and educator from Ho Chi Minh City. I’m currently based in San Francisco and pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
My musical journey has continued to grow through a variety of different paths like classical piano performance while also exploring my voice as a singer-songwriter through original songs and jazz to teaching students.
I am drawn to music that tells a story. Whether interpreting Mozart, Schumann, Debussy, or contemporary works, I strive to create performances that are honest, thoughtful, and emotionally engaging. My experiences as both a pianist and vocalist have shaped a broad musical perspective and a deep appreciation for communication through sounds.
My first album as a vocalist, That’s All, marked a new phase in my artistic journey, allowing me to explore my love for jazz and songwriting in a more personal way. I have also performed at notable jazz venues in Vietnam and U.S, including Binh Minh Jazz Club, BOSSA Jazz Spot, Coi Saigon (Vietnam), Bird & Beckett (SF) & Sound Dhaba (LA).
As an educator, I enjoy helping students of all ages and levels discover their own musical voices. With more than 12 years of teaching experience, I have taught at leading private music schools in Vietnam and the San Francisco Bay Area. I believe great teaching goes beyond technique. It inspires curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
Through this website, I hope to share my performances, projects, and reflections as I continue exploring the kind of artist I want to become. Right now, that path is still unfolding, and I am embracing the uncertainty that comes with it.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
